Introduction
Deed is pay-once storage on Solana. One payment keeps a file for good: year one is paid to storage providers up front, and the rest joins a shared pool whose interest pays every file’s rent every year after.
What it is
Storage everywhere else is rent: a monthly bill that stops the day the card does, and the file goes with it. Deed turns that rent into a one-time price. The mechanism is the perpetual-storage endowment Lighthouse built on Filecoin, rebuilt for Solana and fed by a token.
- Address. Your file’s IPFS address (CID) is worked out in your browser before anything is sent.
- Pay once. Year one’s rent for three copies goes to three providers; the rest goes into the pool.
- The pool earns. USDC is lent on Kamino and SOL is staked as JitoSOL.
- Every year, renew. The pool pays each copy’s rent before its term ends.
- Repair. A copy that fails a check is rebuilt from the other two on a new provider.
- $DEED feeds it. The 3% trading tax is paid into the pool.
Status
Keeping opens at launch. Today the site prices files and coins with live rates, works out CIDs in your browser and reads any coin’s metadata from Solana. Nothing is uploaded or paid yet.
